INTRODUCTION
The Riding School is approved by both the Association
of British Riding Schools and the British
Horse Society to A.I. level. We were established in 1947 and cater
for all standards of rider.
We are a family run establishment and strive to ensure
that everyone enjoys their time with us. We have a good social side with
a dinner dance, quiz nights, barbecues, discos and trips to various events.
RIDING WEAR
Riding kit is not essential to start with, but a comfortable pair of trousers
(jogging bottoms are fine), with a pair of shoes or boots that have a
small heel and a flat sole would be the minimum requirements at first.
Trainers and Wellingtons cannot be worn as they are not safe to ride in.
Hats can be hired (just 50p a time) until you purchase your own. We have
Riding Wear and hats for sale on site
HORSES
We have keen ponies, tiny ponies, quiet cobs, large horses, smaller horses
and thoroughbreds.
There are usually in excess of forty horses at the Riding
School at any one time.
WEIGHT LIMIT
We have a weight limit of 14 stone (not 14 1/2)
CHILDREN
We have pony rides for children under seven years old, lessons for children
begin after their seventh birthday. Children are welcomed and are encouraged
to join our Pony Club. Throughout the
school holidays we hold children's one day and half day courses. These
include riding lessons, stable management lessons and gymkhana games.
Children and adults can take the British
Horse Society Progressive Riding Tests which go from level 1 to level
6. These are carried out on day courses.
LIVERY YARD
We are primarily a Riding School, but we have
25 liveries.
Please see the Livery Yard
page for more information.
